Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s leading experts on developmental trauma, and author of the book, the body keeps the score. I love the fact that he tells therapists that our licenses are only licenses to malpractice, we learn everything from our clients. He talks about how trauma interferes with attention, and the ability to filter out of irrelevant stuff out.
His links to affect regulation and influences what people do, and the ways they may have learned to cope is in such synergy to what we do as therapists working using ASI to address developmental trauma in children, but also to adult trauma survivors.
